This past month our team has been been traveling up and down the island for events and weddings. However, The Good Party’s Corporate Planner, Cassie, took it one step further and brought a taste of Cambodia to Victoria! The Royal BC Museum recently celebrated the unveiling of their newest exhibit ‘Ankgor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia’ and our team was on site to help celebrate! From colourful backdrops, traditional Cambodian dancers and delicious food (served by Truffles Catering) the night was an epic success and it truly felt like we were all transported to Ankgor Wat for the evenings festivities.
Our Corporate Lead Cassie worked closely with the Royal BC Museums in house Events Manager to plan this event and we were so impressed with what they created! The in house team took care of booking speakers for the event and hosting the concession for the IMAX film. Meanwhile, Cassie planned and executed an incredible design for the evening and we can’t wait for you to catch a glimpse of all the glamour!

Working with one of our favourite catering teams a Cambodian inspired menu was created. Truffles Catering did an excellent job of cooking up an assortment of delicious appetizers that were served during the reception. There were also food stations where guests could help themselves to chicken skewers, rice wraps and more! There was no shortage of delicious food to feast on and everyone left happy!
When asked about the process and how she felt about the final product Cassie mentioned that she loved working with such bright and bold colours. The exhibit curators had used vibrant yellow and fuschia for the exhibits branding so it was an easy choice to follow suit for this opening night. Plus, if you know The Good Party at all, you know we love bright colours!
Although we love intimate weddings on private properties we also love when we get to partake in larger events in new (to us) spaces! It was pretty exciting to close the museum early (for set-up purposes), fill the two floor glass walled lobby with stunning cocktail tables, a magnificent back drop of fine silks and linens (thanks Party Mood!) and lanterns galore!

After guest arrival, everyone grabbed some popcorn, a drink and filed into the IMAX theatre to watch the 3D documentary film Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia. The TGP team was pretty excited that we got to join in for this part of the program and our team loved the movie. We learned so much about Angkor Wat and really encourage everyone to go see the movie and exhibit if you have the opportunity! After the IMAX we were also able to walk through the exhibit and we have to say, it was SO GOOD. Below you can see Anouk and Ruby testing their knowledge in one of the exhibits many interactive stations!
Another very special part of the evenings program was that we brought in the LA based Modern Apsara Dance Company. The Apsara Dance Company performed a blessing dance in honor of the exhibit opening and it was incredible to watch. We can’t wait to see some of the professional photos taken of their performance! Check out their website here.
Thank you so much for making the trip and we hope you loved your time in Victoria!

We loved this event, it was super fun to have a larger than usual TGP team on site, set up in the Royal BC Museum and take part in the festivities (and dare we say, sample the delicious food!). If you are looking for something fun and educational to do this summer we really hope that you will check out this exhibit! For information and tickets look on the Royal BC Museum website.
If you attended the event and want to download your photobooth photos click here! A big thank you to Derek and Lindsay from Four Frames for showing up and making us laugh and look good on our evening trip to Cambodia!
