It’s official! New Year’s Eve weddings might be my favourite weddings! Lynda & Steve’s New Year’s Eve wedding at The View at Willis Point will forever hold a special place in my heart. Not only did our team have the opportunity to work alongside this incredibly kind, talented, and beautiful couple throughout the planning process, but Lynda is also one of my dearest friends, and having the chance to be her planner and then getting to put on my own sparkly dress and truly enjoy this epic party was the absolute best.
Lynda & Steve’s gorgeous day was recently featured by 100 Layer Cake and now it’s our turn to round up our favourite moments from this champagne fuelled and confetti-filled celebration!
Lynda is an incredibly talented florist and the owner of FLEURtacious, a Victoria-based floral design company. Having been involved in hundreds of weddings during her many years in the event industry she and Steve quickly curated the best team of vendors (and friends) for their own wedding day; beginning with the talented duo behind Paper Heart Films.
If you have a few minutes, and some tissues handy, we recommend starting off with the really good stuff. In this case, this stunning film from Chelsea and Bryan at Paper Heart!

As you’ve probably already spotted, Lynda’s wedding day look was something seriously special. Truly embracing her own sense of style, Lynda opted out of the traditional white dress and ended up in a jaw-dropping black lace gown by Sophia Tolli, from The Bride’s Closet in Nanaimo. Day of, Erin Bradley took care of Lynda’s hair and makeup!
Not one to be out done, Steve rocked his custom velvet tux from Fari Hara in Toronto. From now on, all winter weddings must include velvet.
If you skipped the video above, you missed Steve’s reaction to seeing Lynda at their first look moment on the terrace, his facial expression below says it all, “you do this to me.” (seriously ?)
Always a smart move for winter weddings when the sun goes down early, the photo/video teams whisked off the couple pre-ceremony for some portraits! This meant that after the ceremony, there was a quick round of family portraits and then Lynda & Steve were able to join their guests for mingling and fun!
As guests arrived off the buses, they were greeted with fleece blankets and headed straight to the ceremony spot. The ceremony took place right before sunset and the sky’s changing tones were the perfect backdrop for Lynda’s epic pampas grass installation.
There was confetti… because it was New Year’s Eve… and also, because there should always be confetti!
Post ceremony, it was straight inside for cocktails (hello, smokey bourbon beet whiskey sour) and canapés! The menu, totally customized by the team at Toque Catering, featured meaningful canapés from places that Lynda & Steve love.
The celebrations were relaxed and flowed effortlessly throughout the evening. From charcuterie and passed canapés to food stations and heart felt toasts to a sparkler lit first dance on the patio and a packed dance floor with a live band to the midnight countdown and passed champagne toast, Lynda and Steve’s wedding celebration truly made for the best New Year’s Eve party ever!
Earlier this year, Lynda and Steve’s wedding was honoured with several awards, including Lynda’s gorgeous bridal bouquet which placed as a finalist at the BC Wedding Awards. Lynda also won Best Overall Wedding Florist and our team was honoured to be named a finalist in the Best Planning Under 75k category.
