Our Corporate Era: 2023 Events Spotlight

By Sarah Gray

The Good Party loves a good party and that doesn’t just mean weddings! Throughout the year you can find our team on site working with businesses and organizations across the Greater Victoria region (and beyond!). From community events and VIP dinners to fundraisers and Christmas staff parties, we have seen it all! Our team of Lead Planners have a wealth of experience working with corporate and community clients. Keep reading to learn about a few events we helped organize this past year!

The events highlighted in this blog post were all led by our powerhouse Corporate Lead Planner Cassie. With her focus on corporate planning, Cassie is often at the helm when we partner with businesses and organizations around Victoria. We want to give a big shoutout to Cassie for all her hard work this past year as well as use this as a chance to share some of her events with all of you!

Angkor Wat Gala – Royal BC Museum

For this special event Cassie worked alongside the Royal BC Museum to plan, decorate and execute an evening to unveil the Angkor Wat exhibit. The event included delicious appetizers created and served by Truffles Catering, a dance performance by a Cambodian dance troupe and speeches from special guests.

Guests were also given the opportunity to view the Imax film: Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia and walk through the brand new exhibit. Our team loved the Imax film and although it is no longer viewable in Victoria, we highly recommend it should you get the opportunity elsewhere!

Pop Up Pub – The Beachlands

The Beachlands (formerly Royal Beach) often hosts community events at their future development site in Colwood. We have loved working with their team to put on many of these events over the years and this past year’s Pop Up Pub was no exception! The purpose of this event was simple: Show the community what is to come at The Beachlands. This, of course, means an elevated local waterfront pub, featuring delicious food and stunning ocean views!

Under a beautiful stretch tent, Cassie designed and set up a fun and festive Mexican inspired seating area for guests to enjoy their meals. Meanwhile, the team at Truffles Catering created a delicious menu and provided food and drink service to attendees. Our team loved being part of this two day event!

VIP Welcome Event – The Beachlands Victoria Open – PGA Tour

This VIP welcome event, hosted by The Beachlands, was an awesome evening of food, drink and good company. When it came to planning this event, with the excellent leadership of Cassie (and an amazing team of vendors) no obstacle could stand in their way!

There was live music, delicious food provided by Dead Beatz food truck and Twist of Fate mixed and poured tasty drinks. Guests were able to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate what promised to be an excellent weekend of golf!

Penninsula Gives – Saanich Peninsula

In short, Peninsula Gives was an incredible evening wherein $175,000 was raised for cancer research at BC Children’s Hospital. Hosted at a private residence on the Saanich Peninsula, this event was all about a community coming together in support of children at their most vulnerable time. The Good Party joined forces with the Penninsula Gives team to help plan the event, design the space, and orchestrate the evening itself. Vendors, businesses and individuals throughout the area gave generously to help make this event a success. Some donated silent auction items and services or sponsored the event. The Penninsula Gives event truly highlighted the community spirit alive and present on the Saanich Peninsula. A special treat was that Chef Matt Jackson from Atelier masterfully crafted a custom 4 course menu using locally sourced ingredients, generously donated by Saanich Peninsula producers.

Guests enjoyed local beer, cider and fine wines. As well as a feature cocktail highlighting local craft whiskey produced from grain grown right down the road from the event venue. Our on site team agreed that while the evening felt successful largely in part due to the funds raised, seeing the community come together also had a huge impact on the success of the evening.

This event was held at a private residence making it both unique and a challenge for hosting such a large group. Our team of planners love a challenge and always enjoy the logistics that go into finding solutions like fitting a beautiful event into a new space. When working with corporate clients we don’t always get to make things pretty as the priority can often be geared toward making spaces functional. This special event was a fun exception to that and Cassie loved the opportunity to flex her creative side. Working with Bespoke Blossoms and other local rental companies she created a space that looked pretty perfect to us!

Festival of Trees – The Bay Centre + BC Children’s Hospital

For the past two years we have been lucky enough to work with The Bay Centre and BC Children’s Hospital to help organize and set up for their annual Festival of Trees. This fundraiser is fun for the whole family, involves the entire community and always has us taking one more trip to the mall!

How it works: Businesses and organizations from Victoria can purchase a tree. Each team decorates their own tree and then the ballots are cast! For a 6 week period, visitors to The Bay Centre are able to vote for whichever tree they think is the best decorated! Since the goal is the same for everyone, it’s a fun competition to participate in.

Our team was on site to set up and coordinate the opening night of this holiday event – a tree decorating party for all the sponsors! The evening was filled to the brim with seasonal treats (hot chocolate station? Yes please!), live music, and an interactive map that guided guests around the mall. This year The Good Party team even decorated our very own tree! Lead Planner Grace took charge of this task and we loved what she did!

As you can see we love to help make every event a special and unique experience! Along with Cassie we also have to give a big shout out to each of our team members who were on site at these fun, festive and fund raising events. Thank you also to everyone who attended an event, decorated a tree, donated money or services, moved a stack of chairs, or sent 100 emails.
