The Love Bash at the Victoria Public Market!

By Marley Poniedzielnik

On February 14th The Good Party alongside the Victoria Public Market and some of our favourite Vancouver Island vendors got together to create a totally unique Pop-Up style Wedding experience! The Love Bash was created as a stress-free alternative option to the traditional wedding celebration. The best part was all proceeds raised went to support our friends at the Help Fill A Dream Foundation!

We first met with the team at the Victoria Public Market regarding the idea of teaming up for a pop-wedding event last summer and it was incredible to see the vision come to life on Valentine’s Day. We dreamed up the idea of utilizing the Public Market’s unique storefront spaces in a different way by creating mini chapels within the venue that our couples could choose from. We decided to take the best things about weddings and bring them together to create a totally fun evening for our couples and their guests. Food stations, an epic Photo Booth, champagne on tap, signature cocktails, a balloon installation filled with disco balls, and of course a rocking dance party – we knew we had the recipe for a memorable night!

Having never done an event quite like this before, we weren’t sure how many people would be into it, so we were thrilled to have 7 wonderful couples decide this was the legal wedding alternative they’d been wishing for (and just didn’t know existed in Victoria!). We are so appreciative of each one of the above couples for trusting our vision and coming on board to celebrate their love in such a fun way – all while supporting Help Fill A Dream!

Every couple’s story was unique about why The Love Bash was the right fit for them! Hearing everyone’s stories, watching their intimate ceremonies, and be a part of their celebrations with their friends and family seriously made for the most love-filled Valentine’s Day ever!

We dreamed up 3 totally unique chapels so that couples could choose a style that fit their personalities best.

West Coast Boho:

Lead planner Anouk created the perfect Boho chapel that brought outdoor elements to the indoors. Macrame hangings, lots of greenery, and romantic candlelight set the stage for our West Coast loving couples.

Modern:

This clean, crisp, and elegant chapel designed by lead planner Emma really let the couples shine! A mirrored aisle runner reflected the light of dozens of candles. Large white floral installments surrounded our couples as they said their vows. Acrylic was a big theme and the ghost chairs made a big impact!

Vegas:

This was the most colourful of all the chapels! Lead planner Carley utilized colour, different textures, as well as an awesome neon sign for her Vegas-inspired chapel. A dark teal shimmery drape, with gold tinsel, eye-catching beads and colourful pom-poms all created the Vegas backdrop for our adventurous couples.

After the legal ceremonies were all complete, it was time to party!

Four Frames Photo Booth had an epic backdrop and really helped kick things into high gear! Rich, from Hey Mr. DJ!, set the tone for the night playing epic dance tunes that got people moving.

Twist of Fate served up two signatures cocktails that guests couldn’t get enough of!

And the food! There were SO many amazing food options from Truffles Catering’s Signature Risotto Bar to the lovely food vendors located in the Victoria Public Market. Guests could choose from vegan mac and cheese, sushi, charcuterie and more!

Guests and couples were entered into a draw and some lucky winners walked away with a gift certificate to Island Diamonds, Love Medals, a photoshoot courtesy of Lilly Ann Photography, and a very large and delicious chocolate gift basket from Glam By Lisa!

All of our couples were unique but had one thing in common: love.

They were there to celebrate their partnerships and make a declaration to the world. It was one big party and everyone came together for a really great cause.

A huge thank you to all of our couples, their friends and family who attended as guests, and to all of the incredible local vendors who trusted this crazy idea and hopped on board to make magic happen once again! We really truly couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you!
